Our MISSION:

We SEEK TO ADVANCE THE KINGDOM OF GOD PRIMARILY THROUGH PREACHING, TEAChING, AND REACHING. We FOCUS ON JESUS CHRIST & Living in Gospel-centered Community.

The purpose of the Jerusalem Church is to do our part to advance the Kingdom of God in every way God enables and leads us.  We glorify God by worshipping Him, proclaiming the gospel of grace, helping people, and making disciples of Jesus Christ. God’s mission and the mission of His Church are inseparably linked. If God’s mission is to be glorified through the redemption and reconciliation of a people, the Church’s mission must orient around the glory of God and seek to glorify Him through redemption, reconciliation, and reproduction.

The mission of the Church is highlighted in 2 Corinthians 5. "As those who have been reconciled to God through the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are now ambassadors of reconciliation to a lost and broken world. We proclaim the Gospel and receive the Sacraments. We plead, urge, implore, reason, pray, serve, preach, teach, and gather to see God glorified through reconciliation."

At Jerusalem Church, this mission is best displayed in our worship together centering on the Word and the Sacraments. It advances in our homes and communities where we daily have the chance of living out the Gospel in love to those around us and living by His Word and Spirit in our vocations as we await His return.

Reconciliation with God.

What is the glory of God? The glory of God is the gravity that keeps those who see and savor it from spinning off into the spacious trivialities of sin. God’s desire is that He might be known and enjoyed for His nature and character. He invites us into relationship with Himself.

We believe that the center of the gospel is the glory and grace of Jesus Christ, so we strive to be a church that is centered on the gospel of reconciliation to God through Christ. We preach the grace of Jesus unapologetically because it is God’s grace that trains us to be holy (Titus 2:11-12). Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we can now be reconciled to God and affect the world around us through His grace and power. Our mission is to preach this gospel unapologetically to the world.

Reconciliation with others.

Though each Christian has a personal relationship with God, that relationship is not individualistic or private. The Christian faith is not intended to be lived in isolation. We were made for community; relationship with God and with each other. The local church is not merely a place that we attend but a people to whom we belong. The Bible calls us members of the body (1 Corinthians 12:12-31) with the expectation that we contribute to the body for the glory of God and the good of His people.

Reconciliation with others means living in a Gospel-centered community together; a radical call amid a culture of mere attendance and casual involvement. It involves mutual love, care, consistency and authenticity as we seek to adorn the person and work of Christ with our lives.

The Jerusalem Family:

A story of God's amazing grace since 1815.

Jerusalem's story is as unique as each of our own. In a time where history is discarded, we are thankful for our rich heritage. The beautiful thing about Jerusalem's story is that God's grace and love are so deeply woven into the fibers of who we are that any success or prosperity we've experienced is a direct result of God's mercy and favor. We believe that all things exist and are being worked according to the triune God’s passion, pleasure and plan (Ephesians 1:11), which is the demonstration of His own intrinsic glory. And that God creates, calls, rescues, redeems, saves, restores, restrains and grants all to the end that He might be praised.
