  • TOM HENDERSHOT

    Lead Pastor

        The Rev. Dr. Thomas R. Hendershot and Angela married in 1983. They have four children and a growing number of grandchildren. Both Tom and Angie have been involved in the ministry since their youth. Angie has blessed and encouraged people everywhere they have traveled and lived with her inspirational music and compassionate personality. She is a loving mother and grandmother and enjoys connecting with people. Rev. Hendershot has preached for over 40 years around the world in various settings across denominational lines and served as a pastor on four occasions. He is also a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant, having served much of his twenty-three years of active duty in the Chaplain Corps. The Rev. Dr. Hendershot holds degrees in Technology, Management, Pastoral Ministry, Theology, Counseling and Divinity. He's been involved with and labored together with various networks and ministries in over four decades of ministry. He is a recognized ordained minister with the Evangelical Association of Reformed & Congregational Christian Churches (EA). He serves presently as the President on the National Board of Directors for the EA (www.evangelicalassociation.org). 

         Prior to their present assignment, Tom and Angie served together in pastoral ministry for eight and a half years at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in historic Marietta, Ohio. Since July 2016, Rev. Tom has served as the lead pastor at Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia, Ohio. He is recognized here and in many places as one who uncompromisingly proclaims the truth of Scripture in a simple way that helps others to desire and discover a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, to walk in the Spirit, and to experience daily the Father's love and grace.   • EMILY BEITZEL

    Director of Youth Ministries

    Emily was born and raised in New Philadelphia, Ohio, and has been an active member of Jerusalem Church her whole life. She is the wife of Jared, and they have a son, Micah. She graduated from Kent State University (Kent Campus) with a B.A. in Human Development and Family Studies and a minor in Psychology as well as a concentration in Family Life Education. She is presently pursuing a Master's Degree in Christian Education. Emily has led several Youth Retreats and programs with significant success. The Youth Group has grown spiritually in the past several years under her leadership. She has a passion for serving and working with children and youth and helping them grow in their relationship with God. You and your youth will appreciate her spirit and the exciting program. Her two goals for Youth Ministry are to have fun and lead the Youth in a relationship with Christ. Emily is also on Facebook. She is pictured here with her husband, Jared.

    Church Secretary & Treasurer

    If you call the office during the week, you will likely speak with Stacie. Among many other things, she also handles the finances, much of the administration for the church, and runs the main office. She is pictured here with her husband, Brian, and daughter and son, Emily, and Matt

    Bob is serving in his final year of the four-year active-elder term. He will remain as an advising elder after his term. He is pictured here with his wife, Jeanne.

    Fred has served several years as an Elder at Jerusalem Church. He is in year three of a four-year active-elder term, and also serves as the President of the Consistory. He is pictured here with his wife, Karen.
